Scrappy String Blocks
It's time for scrappy String Blocks.
Foundation Paper String Blocks - unfinished at 8 1/2 inches
Collection at June, July and August meetings
Let's use up some of your scrappy strips from your stash. Sewing your strips diagonally on a 8 1/2 inch square paper makes this a quick and easy block to make. To keep some order to the scrappy look, start with a very low volume centre strip cut 1 3/4 to 2 1/4. After that, the strips can be added on each side in any clear, pure colors, they can be solids, small or large prints - the white strip in the middle brings it all together. When you've finished your squares and trimmed them to 8 1/2 inches, leave the paper on the square.
This helps stabilize the bias edges until the blocks are sewn together.
Once again we'll look to Ashley at Film in the Fridge for the tutorial.
