The December swap is a fun guild tradition where we each make something and then have a blind swap of our hand-made items at the December guild meeting.
This year's swap will be reusable shopping bags. As single-use plastic grocery/shopping bags are becoming a thing of the past, I'm sure we could all use some more reusable fabric bags - especially pretty hand-made ones!
Tutorials:
There are many options available online for shopping bag patterns and tutorials. Stitched by Crystal has a free pattern and tutorial available at this link. Michelle Patterns has a pattern for sale (US$10) available at this link. Bags should be approximately 14" x 11" x 5".
This is a great opportunity to try out a new technique or add some creativity to your project. You can really make your bag one of a kind and put your personal touch on it. Perhaps you want to make your bag reversible or add a pocket. Perhaps you want to add some embroidery or an orphan block to your bag. If you are new to bag making, choose some cute modern fabrics and try out a simple pattern - no embellishments needed! The options are endless, have some fun!
Fabrics:
Fabric should be modern
Make sure your fabrics are well coordinated. Hint: fabrics from the same line are designed to coordinate well with each other!

Be sure to wrap your bag in plain paper/paper bag and bring it to the December guild meeting for the blind swap.
